At WWE Elimination Chamber, Braun Strowman will defend the Intercontinental Championship against the combined forces of Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro & Sami Zayn.

Since conquering Nakamura to lay claim to the workhorse title, Strowman has been a major disruption to both the former titleholder and his cohorts Cesaro and Zayn, to say the least. Most recently, the fierce champion joined forced with Elias to overcome The Artist & The Swiss Cyborg in a Symphony of Destruction Match — a contest that saw The Monster Among Men powerslam Shinsuke off the Commentators’ desk onto a grand piano and leading to his adversary receiving nine staples in the back of his head.

In the wake of that onslaught, a contract signing was set up for a one-on-one rematch between Strowman and Nakamura for WWE Elimination Chamber. But, when Zayn asked to further review the contract, Strowman remarked that he would end up fighting all three of his foes no matter what the contract said and he signed it. Seizing the moment, Zayn held Strowman to his word. As a result, a 3-on-1 Handicap Match for the title was made official. In the wake of the signing, the three Superstars ganged up on the titleholder and put him through the table. And the rest, as they say, is … hysteria.

Caution! Warning! All-out bedlam has just been guaranteed at SummerSlam. WWE.com has learned that United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura will once again go to war against Jeff Hardy at The Biggest Event of The Summer, with Randy Orton no doubt lurking in the shadows.

Hardy’s United States Championship reign ended in shocking fashion at WWE Extreme Rules, as The Charismatic Enigma suffered a demoralizing, near-immediate title loss to Nakamura. Before the opening bell, The King of Strong Style floored Hardy with his now signature move — a savage low blow — behind the ref’s back. Hardy struggled to his feet and insisted on starting the match, only to suffer an instant Kinshasa that snapped his reign and landed the nefarious Artist the first championship of his WWE tenure. And it would only get worse for Harty, who suffered a surprise post-match attack by none other than Randy Orton, who also delivered a ruthless low blow.

Then, at the height of his U.S. Title rematch on SmackDown LIVE, Jeff seemed to have Nakamura down for the count after hitting him with a picture-perfect Swanton Bomb. However, outta nowhere, Orton emerged to break up Jeff’s pin attempt and savagely attacked The Charismatic Enigma. Though Hardy picked up the win by disqualification, The Viper proceeded to unleash a nearly-unspeakable post-match assault on his prey, which he concluded by DDT’ing Hardy off the table, as Nakamura watched from a distance.

When Hardy returned weeks later to SmackDown to answer the attack from Orton, he suffered dual onslaughts, first by Nakamura and then again by The Viper, who wiped the paint off Hardy’s face in a moment he later described as “erasing The Enigma.”

With so much turmoil surrounding the United States Championship rematch between the titleholder and one of the most extreme Superstars in WWE history, the WWE Universe is left asking just how much chaos awaits at The Biggest Event of the Summer? Moreover, will WWE’s Apex Predator once again look to play a painful role?

Find out when SummerSlam invades the Barclays Center, Sunday, Aug. 19, at 7 ET/4 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network!

At the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia, WWE Champion AJ Styles will defend his title against Shinsuke Nakamura in a WrestleMania rematch, but the circumstances surrounding the contest will be very different than their epic showdown at The Showcase of the Immortals.

After his triumphant showing in the 2018 Men’s Royal Rumble Match, the charismatic Nakamura earned the right to a dream match against The Phenomenal One on The Grandest Stages of Them All, but moments after Styles won the hard-fought encounter, The King of Strong Styles suddenly struck the low blow heard round the world and forever tarnished the instant classic that the WWE Universe had waited so long to see.

While Styles resolved himself to the explanation that Nakamura had simply shown his true colors in the weeks that followed on SmackDown LIVE, the nefarious Artist deflected his motivation by claiming that he didn’t speak English. Instead, he chose to let his action do the talking for him by attacking Styles on two separate occasions, even ruining a fantasy showdown between the reigning WWE Champion and the returning Daniel Bryan.

So, when the two adversaries meet at the historical Saudi Arabia event, it will once again be a battle of unmatched talent and explosiveness. However, Nakamura’s betrayal has now made the matchup personal, and both Superstars will be fighting for something far greater than a victory or even a title. They will be fighting for a reckoning.

Shane-O-Mac and Owens have been at each other’s throats for months, and the animosity between the two exploded when KO savagely attacked Mr. McMahon and later slugged it out with Shane in a brutal Hell in a Cell Match that saw Zayn shockingly help KO survive – and win. After reforming their friendship, Owens and Zayn made the situation even worse by attacking their boss at Survivor Series and helping cause the demise of SmackDown LIVE in the Men’s 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match.

The SmackDown LIVE Commissioner nearly fired the bitter Superstars for their treacherous actions on an episode of the blue brand, but after Shane left the arena, General Manger Daniel Bryan decided not to execute that order and instead made the pair face The New Day in a Lumberjack Match.

On the Nov. 28 episode of SmackDown LIVE, McMahon “barred Zayn from ringside” in a No Disqualification Match between Owens and The Viper. However, the sneaky Zayn once again managed to work his way into the mix by taking the stipulation literally and only attacking Orton with a steel chair at the top of the stage and away from ringside to help Owens pick up the victory.

The ongoing unruliness from Owens & Zayn earned them a tag team match at WWE Clash of Champions against Orton and a partner of his choosing. Unfortunately for them, they soon learned that The Viper’s partner at the Dec. 17 pay-per-view event will be the dangerous Shinsuke Nakamura. Shane then added his name to the marquee as the special guest referee, including the vital stipulation that a loss for Owens & Zayn will result in them being dismissed from all of WWE.

Can Owens & Zayn find a way to slip out of WWE Clash of Champions the victors? Or, will Orton & Nakamura prove to be too much for the dastardly duo to handle?

Plus, with Shane McMahon serving as guest referee and holding a clear bias against Owens & Zayn, will SmackDown LIVE’s Commissioner call the match down the middle?

See who prevails in this critical tag team battle, as Owens & Zayn will have their WWE careers hanging in the balance on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 8 ET/5 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network.
